Publication Ethics

All our actions at the Journal of Social Policy and Practice (JSPP) are founded on publishing ethics. The research and publication process, submission of manuscripts, peer review and editorial decision, final publication and archiving will be done with high ethical principles. These principles ensure honesty, trustworthiness and trust of the academic documentation.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

The authors, who will present their works to JSPP, will:

  • Be original: It must be original, must be quoted and must never be published otherwise.
  • Plagiarism should be avoided: All sources should be properly mentioned and it is clear that the thoughts or writing of other people should be indicated.
  • Disclose the conflicts of interest: It is to be mentioned whether any financial assistance, affiliation, or personal relationship can be used in the course of the work.
  • Be truthful in the reporting of data: Research findings, research analyses and conclusion need to be given in truth without creating and manipulating it.
  • Respect human subjects: When conducting research that involves human subjects, there is the need to follow the ethics and consent principles.

Failure to adhere to these obligations may result in rejection or withdrawal of manuscripts; in extreme cases, the same may be reported to concerned institutions.

Reviewer Ethical Expectations

The quality and fairness is also ensured by reviewers. Reviewers must:

  • Be secret: Do not reveal, converse and use manuscripts to personal gain.
  • Evaluations ought to be objective: An evaluation needs to be non-partisan, and based on merit in academics.
  • Report conflicts: It is the responsibility of the reviewers to inform editors of any conflict that has the potential to affect fair judgment.
  • Be positive in feedback: The feedback must be relaxed and focused and should be intended to better the work of the authors.

Editorial Integrity

The Journals of Social Patterns and Perspectives editors ought to uphold publication standards and make moral choices by:

  • Ensuring impartiality: Editorial choices will rely on quality and relevance and contribution only.
  • Confidentiality protection: The information about the manuscripts and identities of the reviewers are stored safely.
  • Dealing with misconduct: Every possible ethical issue (plagiarism, falsifying data, submission of a similar report), is to be examined and dealt with accordingly.

Handling Misconduct

For the purpose of assessing and resolving ethical dilemmas, JSPP follows exact rules. Among the possible steps are:

  • Asking to be corrected or clarified.
  • Redaction or retraction of the published articles.
  • Informing the institutions or funding organizations of the authors.
  • Prohibiting further submissions by interested parties.

The measures are aimed to safeguard the academic record integrity and build trust in academic communication.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

The ethics policy of JSPP is based on the fact that we remain committed to responsible research and ethical practice. Through these, we contribute to a just and honest publishing climate whereby authors, reviewers, readers, and even the research community at large are respected.
